Maggie Pearson

Maggie is a botanical printer living and working in Liverpool. With a love of textiles since she was a child, she has been printing with leaves and natural dyes for over three years and has been teaching botanical contact printing for two. Her professional background and career in education means that Maggie understands the need for clarity of purpose in courses, and places the student at the centre of her approach. Understanding that students have different learning styles, she presents her material in a range of forms so that you can learn in the way with which you feel most comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need any special equipment ?

    You will need to use a pan and utensils which you DO NOT USE for food preparation or cooking. Aluminium pans or fish kettles are preferred if you can find them, but stainless steel will be fine. Most other items in the comprehensive List of Requirements are everyday items which you may well have already.

  • Will I need to purchase materials?

    Materials are specified in the List of Requirements. You will need fabric, some of which you may have already in your stash [linen, cotton], but you may need to purchase a couple of silk scarves if you don't have any. A list of suppliers is attached to the List of Requirements.

  • When does the course start?

    The course will open on April 16th 2021. Lessons will be made available over the following month.

  • How long with the course material be available?

    You will have unlimited access to the course.

  • Is it totally self-directed learning?

    The course material is designed to be all that you need to thrive on the course. However, I will organise some Zoom sessions for discussion/Q&A, but they will not be didactic teaching sessions as such.

  • Will I be able to interact with other students?

    I will aim to organise Zoom sessions for you to meet other students and share your results, as well as ask me questions. The Zoom sessions will be timed to take account of students' time zones. I will also organise a private Facebook Group for students on the course.
